Fatal Gun Accident.
[Post's Correspondent.] [By Telegraph. ] Dunediv, Feb. 2. A carious gun accident formed the subject of a coronial enquiry on Friday. Bobert George Campbell, aged sixteen, had, m company with his father, .James Campbell, gone to A^a^qre qh the Ist January, feu? the purpose of inspecting some property there. On the following morning they were joined by Gordon Halley. When near a creek on the far side of the property, deceased placed his gun on a rock about two or three yards from where he afterwards sat down. His swag, containing provisions slipped against the gun and caused it to discharge its contents, consisting of a No. 3 cartridge. Immediately the report was heard deceased called out, " Oh, father I am shot." He received a wound m the inner thigh, and on assistance being procured was conveyed to Waihola, an.d subsequently to Dunedin, where he. arrived, about ten hours after the acqiden.t 00. curred. Medical assistance was immediately obtained, and deceased lingered till the morning of the 27th inst., when he died. Medical evidence was to the effect that deceased had met with a severe gunshot wound, and that death was occasioned by secondary hemorrhage the result of the wound. A verdict of Accidental Death was returned.
