School Committee.
The Palmeiston School Committe met last night. Present :— Messrs Leavy (Chairman), Hawkins, Stewart, Wood-, roofe, Hosking, and Rev. A. M. Wright Mr Leary read his letter to the Board re damage to school residence. Board Secretary wrote tUa.t £20 had been voted for the roof. The Chairman intimated that the chimney had been rebuilt and he had sent on the account of the Board £3 63 6d. The Board Secretary also wrote saying £300 had been voted for school building at Terrace End. ' . ■-■ It was resolved that the pits on the playground be attended to at once; Mr Leary submitted to the meeting the return to the Board with items set down under the various headings iv the schedule:...;. Messrs Wopdropfe and Hosking, were appointed visiting Committee for three mouths ending April 30th. Mr Woodroofe drew attention to the fact that the hotidays'had been extended to six weeks this year instead of four weeks as prescribed by the Act. Aft«r some conversation it was resolved to communicate with the Board and see if the teachers' examination could bo arranged so that the school teaching days should nc£ be entrenched on.
