At such time and place, and immediately after the elections, the board direct that the newly ejected committee shall hold their first meetings for the purpose of electing chairmen, and the names of such chairmen shall be at once forwarded to the board's secretary. We trust the meetings m all the districts will be well attended, and that the proceedings m each case will be character, ijted by genuine interest and unanimity. As an exchange appropriately remarks :—" It \b one of the first duties of eyevy man to prp. mote the welfare of the young 50 that m their generation they may excel m well doing, and m the promotion of social happiness, the generation of which he himself may be a member. In a way the school committee is entrusted with important functions and m its hands is directly placed the welfare of the school and of the children over whom they have control. Their work is nofc (thus a work of to-day nor of tomorrow, bj.it a work whose influences will be felt when they themgQjyes have passed away and the conduct of affairs on earth shall have been entrusted to other hands. We hope that m every case the householders will make choice of the best men to discharge the important and responsible duties of members of School Committees.
