District Prize Firing.
Captain Carroll has kindly furnished ! u« with following result of yesterday's firmg 1 for district prizes:— Over 20 of the I PalniiTatoti North Rifles competed on I the rifle range, the following are the names of the winners :— Corpl. Leigh, £1 10a; Vol. Speight, £1 ss; Vol. Summers, £1 ; Vol. Manz, 15s ; ColSergt. Stephenson, 10s ; Vol. Stutter, ss; Corpl. Stallard, sa; Vol Lyon, ss; Johansen, ss. The ranges were 200, 300, ami 500 yard*, stnndiug at 200, kneeling at 300, any position at 5 0; five shots at each raoge the scores were not ns good as usiisfl «wing to a gale blowing at the time. We are unable to give the scores a« Sergeant-Major Henry took away the sheet with him to make np his returns by. Captain Carroll and Lieutenant Johnston were present during" the shooting, and the utmost regularity was observed. Luncheon was furnished on the ground by the officers and a most enjoyable day was spent by all parties concerned.
