would probably have been killed by the savage brute. A very bad scalp wound was inflicted, the left ear- was nearly torn off, and both hands were bitten through. The father took the little suf. to.the Hospital, where Dr Chilton dressed the wounds. The shock to the sys. torn was very severe. The boy was conveyed home after his wounds had been dressed, bnt will be brought to the hospital from day to day for treatment. The dog belongs to Mr King, who is employ, edat Messrs W. &G. TurnbulTs. JHe I was much surprised when Mr Green m. : - formed him ot what had taken place, as 1 1 he always considered his dog very docile and stated that he never knew It to at- ; tack anything previously. . H&offered to i procure medical attendance for the boy i at his own expense, and promised, to .have thedog destroyed. Mr Green had t some difficulty m finding, the owner of ' "^. He took it to the 1 Police Station | and to the Corporation Offices, but could find no one willing at either place to undertake the custody of the brute.
