Some delay occurred m getting the tjew : /loafer Supply into play.. i When> however, j two jets were brought into play, the fire, I notwithstanding that it had entirely enveloped one building, and almost .devoured a second one adjoining,: was extinguished m about a minute. A; third building separated only by a; foot from those on fire was not even scorched. f/.The water supply proved ; very effejßjtfve, its^great pressure being almost sufficient to knock m the front :of a .building. Tfio water is brought from a reservoir 180 feet above the town. The building m which the fire broke out was nfioceupied-and uninsured. Only, four days ago the owner, Mr Morris Levy, had. refused tt> >re,ne«r a, policy, oh the building m the Standard ptnc£ for £100. The two adjoining buildings wire also uninsured; arid' a gap of >30 yards'eaisted to the^riext building, ., The origin of the fire is a mystery, as when the burst the door, m the building was empty,- and the ceiling only on fire, -o
