The Hinemoa Mystery.
\. By telegraph to-day we learn that the Hinernoa mystery has been solved at , length. It appears that the Govern- . ment had received information that Germany intended to , annex Samoa, ,- : ,Sir Julius Yogel strongly urged immediate action on the part of the Government to prevent this being" done, and- alluded tothe desire of the Samtian Natives to be m -alliance with New Zealand,- as an argument m favourof the island being" annexed by this colony, should the Home Government decline to take action. , .Lord Derby^was communicated with to _ this effect, and asked to assent to" Sir George Grey's Act. In the the Hinenioa was held m readiness to proceed to ; Samoa. Lord ! Derby's' reply expressed ' disapproval of, the proposed annexation. On its receipt an informal Cabinet Council was held ; present — Julius Yogel, and Hons. Buck* 1 ley and Tole. : - It was resolved to again urge the matter on the attention of. the > ; Home Government. It is; expected that further pressure which will be brought' to hear will. secure the desired official,, ratification. The Hinemoa meantime is kept m readiness to leave for Samoa at any moment. }
