T. S., Ashurst. — We have experienced some difficulty m answering your enquiry as to the exact date when the trial Queen v. Colonel Valentine Baker took place. On the 24th June, 1875,C010nel Valentine Baker, then a staff officer at Aldershott, was committed for trial for criminally assaulting Miss Rebecca Kate I Dickinson, while travelling on the London and Southwestern Eailway; and on the 2nd August, m the same year, he was found guilty and sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, and ordered to pay a fine of £500.
