German Annexation.
(reutei's telegrams.) Melbourne, Jan, 5. A telegram has been received by Government from Lord Derby "$n reference to German annexation m "Western Pacific. His Lordship states that annexation by Germany is not result of any collision between the German and English Governments and that the Imperial Government is now m commuifiea&idn wtlh Germany on the matter. Lord Derby adds that the British protectorate now includes a considerable section of North West (query North Eastern) part of New Guinea, besides the'Louisade Archipelago, and other important islands, SyiJnbx; Thin DajU The Government have received a telegram from London . stating '■] that Germany made no arrangement with England for occupying a portioii of JSew Guinea and .acted. without any reference to England."
