The revenue returns for the past year, show an increase of £346,000 m receipts m the December quarter compared with the same period of the previous year, an increase of £641,000 for the whole ; year The revenue for the year exceeded the Colonial Treasurer's estimate ,o^ February last by 30,000. Brisbane, Jan. 2. ' Letters to hand from New Guinea state that several tribes are at war among themselves, and that the progress of explorers is thereby hindered.
