The Governor returned to Wellington qn Wednesday morning unexpectedly from, South. The Pqst saj's ;— Ministers as a body were m close consultation with his Excellency since his arrival, and from the hurried manner m which he and the Premier have been summoned to Wellington, it fa evident thai something important is on the tapis. What it is has not leaked out, but most probably the matter has some reference to the question of Pacific annexation, and it is not improbable that some surprising developments m connection therewith may take place ver-v shortly."
