Presbyterian Sunday School Fete.

The bad weather yesterday seriously interfered with the Presyterian Sunday School picnic, which had to be abandoned m the forenoon on account of the rain. The best was made of the inauspicious surroundings by mustering those of the children who attendedin the Public Hall, where tea was prepared for them, and they were otherwise entertained. In the afternoon the weather cleared, and some outside amusements were indulged m. The tea was provided by Mesdames McDowell, Pirani, Munro, and Fraser. The use of the paddock, for. the fete was kindly lent by Mr Palmerson for the occasion, m which; swings, awnings, &c, had been erected by the teachers during Christmas Day. The sports m the atternoon lasted for about two hours and consisted of races, games, &c. Rain again fell, and a return had to be made to the friendly shelter of the Public Hall where tea was again served out, after which the prizes were distributed by the Rev. A. M. Wright, About DO children were present, together with a considernumber of parents and friends. About 5 p.m. the 'proceedings terminated, and the gathering dispersed, the fete having been an entire success so far as the state of the weather would allow. The teachers and friends present did all m their power to amuse and entertain the children, who spent on|the whole a happy day.
