The cholera has entirely ceased m Paris. The Standard states that Germanyhas notified to the Powors that sho has annexed the following islands m the Pacific : — New Britain, Now Ireland, New Hanover, Marshall, Anderson, Duke of York, Admiralty, and also the northern portion of Now Guinea. Dr. Flinach will probably act as Administrator over the above. A fire occurred m Pancel's office, Windsor, last night, and after it had been extinguished an infernal machine was discovered among the debris. On examining the machine it was found that the fuse attached instead of causing an explosion had ignited the box m which it was contained and thus set fire to the office. An agreement, has been signed between the representatives of Eugland , and Spain, m conueotion with the negotiations for a fresh commercial treaty. Under the agreement Spain is to grant Eugland "most favoured nation " treatment, when the British House of Commons has agreed to extend to Spanish wives (containing thirty degrees proof spirit) the shilling per gallon scale of duty now levied on wives of twenty-six degrees proof spirit. Arrived — Ship Latona, from Timaru, May 3, via Port Chalmers. Capetown, Dec. 21. Intelligence has been received here that the force of armed Boers who assembled m the Transvaal are starting for the border. President Kruger has declared that he is powerless to prevent their departure. New York, Dec. 21. Seventy of the ninety children who were reported uiissiug after the fire at the Brooklyn Catholic Orphanage, have been found safe and uninjured, but nothing is yet known regarding the fate of the remainder.
