Stoney Creek School.
* Tree annual treat and distribution of prizes ofthe above school took place on Monday Trbe 22nd instant. Notwithstanding tKe iuclement state of weather, the proceedings passed off most successfully aud pleasantly, there being over 100 children present and about half that number of parents and friends. About 2 o'clock the children were marched from the school-house to Mr Stokes paddock were games of various kinds were heartily participated m. The committee spared neither jtime nor expense m making this part of the day's programme specially attractive, having provided a choice assortment of toys and useful articles wliioh were awarded to the winners. After the games were over, the children returned to the schoolroom, which was most tastefully decorated, for the occasion with evergreens and flowers. After an excellent tea 1 the teacher, Mr J. Honore, read an address m which he reviewed at some length the work of the past year. He also strongly urged the importance of regular attendance, as it was essential to the prosperity of the school. Thereafter, tho chairman, Mr T. W. Stace, on behalf of the committee, presented Mist Edwards, tbe pupil teacher, with a silver broach and two vases as a token of appreciation of her services. Then followed the distribution of prizes, after which a vote of thanks was accorded to the ladies and others who had interested themselves m getting up the entertainment. Appended a list of the names of whose who received prizes :— . Mr Park's special prize for « progres— Mary Madden and Barbara McKeozie, both equal.
