'' It appeared th'efe npd peen some 'dispute about a fite hot -bejing m the breakfast room of the hotel, jand other ! complaints by Mr Baker. MrHaakinai appeared for the defendant, \fo6 depoaed T -p9uiplaJDant said, at breakfast, "Do you not think there" ought tfo.be a fire, this mbrhing ■•?■"••■ Witness replied, •' Ido oot think so ; I do not light afire at this time of tlio morning, except for'ladiesi" Ms Baker said, "It 1 is very cold."' Witnesa replied, "The others dp notcoraplain." Mr Baker then saiid, "The otliors may have taken some stimulants." Afterwards, : Mr Baker came, into the bagatelle-room, and said he should like : to see the other, rooms. )yitueßß' went ' out with him and showed hini hhe: ' ' Mr Baker had a note-book m hid hand, and < took notes/ He opohed a baok door and asked if the premises at the back belonged to. the hotel, and said, "I am taking notes, and you will have a bother tbget your licence next year," <He (witness/ got crossj and Mr Baker saidj, j' ;Do jyou know >vhora you are spjsakjpg to?'. Witness replied, " Yes, I believe you are., clerk of the R. M.
