Aii English paper relates an m- j stance of the terrible means of vengeance adopted by one Cornishman towards another. A young man named Henry Burbank, formerly a resident at Falmouth, m Cornwall, formed a .partnership with a Falmouth friend, Thomas Wilson, some years his senior, and with him went •to -North- Western Nebraska, m America, and embarked m the cattle business. Wilson becoming-jealous of Durhank's attentions to his (Wilson's) wife, devised a terrible motion of revenge. With the assistance of three other men he. took the opportunity one night, when Burbank was m bed, to strip him of every bit of clothing, and bind him on the back of a young wild horse, which was started off by vigorous lashing. Some days afterwards Burbank was discovered by some cow boys still on the back of the horse, alive, but unconscious- The cow boys easily caught the horse, who appeared broken down, as if from long running, and released Burbank, who was then conveyed to a hut, and gradually nursed back to some degree of health and strength; The sufferings he must have endured travelling- about tire plains on the animal, without-fobd and exposed to the sun,and wind,, must .have been simply awful.
