The majority of the sections comprised m the above schedule are situated at Pahiatua, m the Mangaone Block, m the Kopuaranga District, about Dreyer's Rock, near Dreyertown, and front upon or are adjacent to the main road connecting Maxterton and Woodville. Branch roads have been formed through the sections at Dreyer's Rock, Central Mangaone, Hawera, «nd Pahiatua, at distances respectively from Maaterton of about fourteen miles, thirty-one miles, thivtyfive miles, and forty miles. The Mangahao sections are within fourteen miles of the town of Woodville. The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now being constructed to a point about seventeen miles north of Masleiton. Sites for railway stations have been selected at several points. The whole of the sections are covered with forest, tha principal trees being tawa, rimu, hinau, rata. kahihatea, with, totara m placea ; the undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy ; the general character of the soil is good, and m some places is of first-class quality, the formation being limestone, clay marl, sandstone, &c. The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there are large flats as well as broken ground within the area ; it is well-watered, and, as the olimate is also very favorable, the .land should, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for pastoral and, to some extent, agricsltural purposes. The Kaiwbata Sections 1 to 5 consist of high hilly laud, of fair and inferior quality, covered with light bush, mixed scrub, and manuka, with occasionally small open patches. Section 1, Block IV., consists of good hilly land, partly cleared and grassed, the ; balance being covered by light bush. The moans of access are by a partlyformed bridle track from Gladstone, and from the coast by the Kaiwhata Valley. Mups, schedules, and application forms can be obtained at the Land Office, Wellington, and maps and schedules at the Post Offices, Featherston, Greytown, Masterlon, Woodvillo, Palmerston North, Foxlon, and Wanganni, and at the various Crown Land Offices throughout the colony.
