Mr Andrew Duncan,we ( Hawera Star) learn, has left for England for th» pose o£ making arrangementb with an English syndicate for the immediate occupation of the land east of Stratford i The purpose of the owners.of the land is that failing a railway being carrie.l by the Stratford roate,they will at fall and clear some twenty or thirty thousand acres for the purpose of laying the land down m £rass aud growing • sheep for refrigerating purposes. All our hilly country contiguous to Hawera might well be utilised for the same purpose. No land for growing the class of sheep which fetches the' highest price m the English market is so suitable as low hills with which Hawera is bounded on the east. ,;'.■•■ ■•■•; ' ;
