Gold Prospecting m Wairarapa.
Mr Wright, a weil-known prospector, who has recently been prospect- i [ ing m the ranges at the head of the I Waipourt, has induced a number of Mastertou residents to join jn with him and his mate Mr Holloway m fairly testing the quartz reef to Wellington, and which was repojrred by Dr Hector to show traces of gjold. It was decided by those who consented to work with JVTr Wi-ight that they would constitute a legal % company, and oh Monday ißvenin^^ a meeting was held aiihfe' Em^ Hptel at' which all : preliiiinariea were arranged. Mr' Pay ton having been voted to the chair, it was resolved that a Company to be. called the Masterton Gold Mioing Company, be floated, nominal capital £500, m a thousand ten shilling shares, twenty residents who had agreed to form the Company, taking fifty shares each. Mr Hathaway was ' elected Legal Manager, Mr L. J. Hooper, Treasurer, and Messrs Pay ton, Elkins, Macara, Parsons, and Thompson a directory. Mr "Wright and bis mate will be at once despatched to tbie reef and will test it either by driving or pinking.,, If the results obtained are stjfficientr to warrant a larife expenditure, f the. little Company now formed) will be able to increase its capital by the issue of new shaves. In the intenm the promoters of it consider thai the capital at their disposal is sufficient for giving the reef a fair trial.
