The Franchise Reform Bill wag again under consideration m the House of Commons to-day, when the second reading was carried by a majority of 140. The election for the South Warwickshire constituency, the seat for which was rendered vacant by the accidental death of the Hon. 6. H. C. Leigh at Wyoming, oh September 24, took place to-day, ana resulted m the return of Mr Lloyd, the Conservative candidate. A telegram has been received by the Government from Lord Wolseley, stating that the Mahdi is now at Karshambat, a town some distance to the north of Khartoum, but-that he has only a small follow, ing. Nov. 10. The homeward mails per Orient steamship Liguria were delivered via Brindisi to-day from Melbourne October 3. The Franchise Bill passed through Committee m the House of Commons last night. Arrived — ship Dunedin from Oamaru August 16th.
