Narrow Escape.
Two of the carpenters working at the outside of Mr Park's new building m the Square had a very narrow escape last evening. Quite without warning the scaffolding on which they were standing gave way. The men clung on for dear life to the side of the building, and just managed to save themselves from falling by clambering inside, the timbers <$f which the /scaffolding wa« constructed going crashing to the ground. Had the men fallen ihey could scarcely have escaped brokeu limbs or serious injuries. Too much can? cannot be [ used iv the construction of scaffoldings, upon which men trust their lives, and which are too "often erected without due regard to strength and stability, for the reason that they are only temporary . structures. In the larger cities a very frequent cause of accident to those employed m the building trade arises from insufficient caution being exercised m respect of the substantial erection of scaffoldings.
