The Awanuri Bridge.
Fn>m the Marten paper we learn that Mr Armstrong, the engineer of the Manawatu Eorcl Board, interviewed Mr Stewart, the county 'engineer, at Foxton on Thnwday, with reference to the Awahnri bridge. Mv Armstrong laid the plans of the bri.lge on the council table, and they were inspected by the members present. After a consultation, it was agreed , between the two engineer* that the present gap m- the bridge, 70ft, should be fiUe^~up by a 28ft spanj: and «heet piling ereioled at thai point and filled up. This will lessen the width of the rifer by an d, of course, add thil mhch- to tne width of the tank on the Awahuri side. It is intended to cat vy; the sheet piling along the bank as far a*» the- funds will permit.
