The Daily yews publishes a telegram from its correspondent m Soudan, state that a terrible battle has taken place between General Gordon's forces and the 'followers of Mahdi. The latter numbered over 20,000 men, and fought desperately for 8 hours suffering enormous losses and a temporary reverse, but continually returning to the field m increased numbers.
