Terrible Death.
(united pbess^ assooiation.) Dfnedin, Oct. 28. * The following are particulars of the case of death by burning m the Bruce County. On Snndayy about midday, Mr William Hodgson, of, Canada, was out looking after his Bheep.i He; , was standing on the edge ot a very steep hill, upon which wiis a""qnanfoty. of tussock and long diy fern. He lit bis pipe, threw the match down and went a few feet higher up ! the hill, when on looking round he saw that the match had ignited the grass. Being a man advanced m years he could not climb the hill fast enough to escape the flames. He soon saw that there was only one re- | source before him — to lie down and roll through the flames, which plan he immediately adopted. By the time he had rolled through the burning grass most of hfs clothes were burned off his black, his beard signed close to the flesh, and he was terribly burned all over the body. He lingered m an unconscious state umil 9 o'clock next morning when he expired.
