JTJ.'ITKD PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Nelson, Oct. 20. A banquet in honor of the jubilee of the golden wedding to the Church of Father Garin took place in the Girl's Orphanage, St. Mary's, this evening* About 180 were present, including many ladies and citizens of all creeds. Bishop Redwood, on whose right sat Father Garin, was in the chair, and Judgu Broad was in the vice chair. The bishop presented an address from the bishops and clergy iu New . Zealand, congratulating Father Garin. 'Judge Broad presented an address from the laity and the children representing thu various schools, including the orphanage and industrial schools, who likewise presented addresses and bridal bouquets, and the children sang a sung of jubilee composd for the occasion. Father Garin having cut the weddiug cake, the bishop proposed the health of Father Garin, whom he addressed as the very venerable arch priest, announcing that he had conferred the dignity of appointment on him of the venerable arch-priest of the Wellington diocese. The toast was drunk with much enthusiasm and cheers. The bishop then presented the very venerable arch-priest with a purse of 100 sovs. Father Garin was much affected, but delivered and an excellent speech, and announced his gift of 100 sovs. to his church. Judge Broad then proposed the health of his j lordship, of whom bespoke as a worthy pupil of a worthy master ftho Venerable Arch-Priest). The health was duly honored, and with cheers, and the bishop having feelingly replied, the large party broke up.
