An English Embezzler.
Wellington, Oct. 7. A man named Alex. Fbrsvthc Anderson arrived at Otuki yesterday arid' was brought before the Court this morning on a charge of embezzlement of £240 belonging to the Bo»rd Of Guardians of Browlow Hill Workboose, Liverpool. On being arrested, he ? fold the detective that it would v hardly pay to take him back to justice. He was insured by the board m the. London Guarantee . Office. Accused has £50 to his credit m a Wellington bank, and had £17 5s on him when arrested. He had purchased the goodwill of a store at Otaki for.. £50, and which he was attending to at the time of his arrest. He was remanded for seven d»y»*. The police authorities have wired the news' of his arrest to England, and expect that a police officer is on his way out. Bail was allowed ; himself mi n £200, and two sureties of £100 each.
