The Council went into Committee on this Bill. ' ..-■■! i On Clati=e 1, verbal amendments were made having the effect of bring- 1 ing the measure into operation on the Ist January, 1885. On Clause 14 and 30, verbal j amendments were agreed to. The following new clauses, on *the motion of the Hon. Mr Barnicoafc, were agreed to : To follow clause 3:^ — a. The local authority may from time to time, by public notification, alter any or all of the fees or payments under this Act, provided- that they nre not m excess of those set forth m the schedules to this Act. To follow clause 12:— 6 Whenever any pound shall be too small to conveniently hold the number of cattle I required- to be impounded therein, the pound keeper may place any such cattle m the same paddock or convenient place iiear to sueli pound ; and Such poundkeeper shall be responsible for the custody of such cattle m the same manner, and be entitled to the same foes, as if such cattle had been lodged m the pound. To follow clause 36 :— c. Whenever an order for the sale of cattle shallbe made by any Justice under the authority of this Act, such order may be m the form or to the, effect sot forth m the schedule New Schedule. — Form of order f«»r sale of cattle: — Whereas head of [here state description and brands or marks of cattle] have been impounded m the public pound at ; and whereas it "has been proved to my satisfaction that 'thri pound keeper has complied with the provisions qf the Impounding Act, 1884; now, ■therefore, I, the imder^ signnd, a Justice of the Peace Por the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby order that the said shall be sold on the day of , according to the provisions of the said Aot.
