WestpurtJ Sept. 18. - A. human* leg* with a boot on the foot, was found en the beach at Mokihinui, twenty miles north of Westport, The boot ha* been identified as that of Peter JSgau, who has been missing some weeks. This discovery confirms the supposition that Egan was drowned at sea. Auckland, Sept. 18. The opening of the new Foresters' Hall m Auckland was celebrated by a dinner and ball.. A the inquest of George Bishop, who was killed by a coach accident at Barry's Bay, a verdict of accidental death was returned with a rider that the man. who drove the cow which passed m front of the horses and caused the accident was blatuable for not exercising more caution ; that great credit was due to the driver of the coach, and considerable blame attached to some quarter for the delay m holding 1 the inquest, which did not rake place till three days after the accident. ___ '____ _—- — - __-J|sFtHwm— Dixoii, formerly a barman, attempted suicide by taking chloral at half-past 8 to-night. A meeting 1 of the creditors of George Bodeley, proprietor of the Leviathan : Hotel, was held to-day. His liabilities are £930, and assets J6lO. Referring to Evans' meeting yesterday, the bankrupt raid that, as had ap|)eared. He was. a party to a deception, practise^ on the Equi table Company, but he considered it w^s an excusablß one, as the company went into the matter and made their -valuation with their eyes open. If anyone would pass a censure on him for doing a thing like that, ho would like to see that man.
