West Coast Railway.
Amongst the cargo on the Lasfcingliam was a consignment of sfc. el rails for the Wellington- Manawatu Rail way Company. This was, with the exception of a Small lot still to arrive by the Pleione, the last of an order for 60 miles of rails. Tt would have laid about seven miles of line, but no iuconvenfence qr. delajr is likely to arise- from the loss. The company have on hand rails enough to lay the line from town to Paikakariki, and from the Manawatu end down to near Otaki, and another order for 30 miles of permanent way is expected to be completed some 18 months before the rails will really be wanted, the company's agents m England having deemed it advisable to b*uy largely m the present exceptionally favourable market.
