Mr Park's New Shop.

Through the courtesy of Mr Lurcomb, aichifo-ct, wehaveleen allowed to inspect the plans for Mr W. Park's n,ew shop, tunders for the erection of which are now being advertised. The shop is to be erected adjacent to Mr James Linton's auction rooms, and will have a very handsome and imposing front elevation. The shop premises will measure 50 feet m depth by 28 feet wide, being one of the largest establishments for the purpose required m the North Island. There will hcj. two counters with carved trusses and dentals with pilasters at intervals. The tops of each counter will be of polished timber. In the shop there will also he nn office with all necessary appointments. At the rear of the shop will be a portion of the dwelling; consisting of a dining-room measuring 23 by 14 feet, kitchen 14 feet square, nursery 12 feet square, and scullery 12 by 9 foot. Upstairs there will be a sitting-room 19 by 16, and a front bed-room 22 by 13. The're%ijl also befive other bed-iooms the smallest being 13 by 8. the passage is five feet wide, and the other apartments will comprise linen closet, bath-room, &c. The. walls of the upstairs is to be grained m bird's eye maple, and downstai ra 'oak wainscot. The interior of : tne shop will be clear of all supports iv the way of pillars, and will thus have a splendid floor accommodation. The ceiling will be m the form of six large panels with handsome cornices round each. The outbuildings will consist of stable, coach hous«*, goods store, open shed, wash house, office*, &c, the wash houtte being tilted up with all latest improvements. The front elevation will l»e, as previously stated, of a very.handsome and imposing- ilesi^n, being set. out with CWinthiitn pilasters and Tuscan windows, all the windowsin the front of thebuilding be m gof plate glass. The shop window s will be 10 feet high by a total of 24 m width, thus giving special ad van'ages for the display of goods. The premises "will compare fa voui ably with any similar metropolitan establishment m the colony, and will be a decided ornament to the town. A handsome ornamental facing m the shape of a large triangular"pediment, with turned fiuials will stretch right across the front of the building, above tlic upstairs windows, and the whole front will be decorated and painted m marble. Mr Park's enterprise m the., erectiori'of such' a magnificii-nt building is worthy of all cotnm'enilation, and is a distinct proof of his 'firm, belief m the future of Palmers ton.
