The Floods Abating.

The floods m the Manawatu river Ijm abated considerably, bat all cotn« munication is cut off through the approach to the bridge being; down,, which will take some and moripy to replace. The approach to the Jgatarawa bridge m Fjtzherberfc is also entirely %one, entirely cutting oft all access beyond. Frbm, Jackeytowji to Oxoua Bridge is ; still under water, the distance being traversed by means ' of boats. We have not learnt of the safety or otherwise of the Bridge though itwa« rumoured to-day that one of the approaches had gone. The flat between A wahuri Bridge and j Eeilding was yesterday covered with j water for a long distance, the European and Native residents having to remove to higher ground, taking their effects with them. Many of the road bridges m Feilding are seriously damaped The trains have to meet m Feilding, the bridge over the Ds*lrino being considered unsale. It dqeti not appear that the damage has fejen as great as was at first apprehended which is subject for congratulalipiif We hope that. the accounts fxom the out districts will not bring intelligence of farther disasters. It would seem that the weather is now takiig up, and it is hoped the watery filiUtion is »t an end.
