THIS DAY. Present— -Wardens Akers, Pratt, Sly, and Mr Snelson (chairman). Mr. Mathieson the hew Warden for No. 6 Ward took his seat. Minutes of last meeting read, revised, mkF confirmed. OOBRESPONDENCE. From Treasury stating that £156 remjtted on account of Kairanga deferred payment. From Mr Honore, Fitzherbert re special rate. Secretary instructed to inform IfrHonore he would be required to pay this rate but that same would be refunded. From F. Costall, (Wellington), r« rates. Secretary to write and inform • HrC&stall that last demand for rates was m lieu of Country rate, the County being suspended it devolved on the Boad Board to collect this rate. Same from Mr Wingate. Secretary instructed to reply to Mr Wingate m same terms as Mr Costall. ' Mr Hurst applied to the Board to have No. 1 Line, Kairanga, formed. Secretary instructed to reply to the effect that tbe Board had already applied to Government to have this road placed ifnder the Roads and Bridges Construction Act and if the Government compiled, a poll would be taken and the ioad made if ratepayers wish to and vote for it. Mr Clawson, junr., waited on the Board and applied to have gravel reserve at Awapuni leased to him. Informed that when the Board received a title to this reserve tenders would be m vited for leasing it. Jfr, Andrewartha waited: on the Board r\ hw account. Resolved to pay half of the claim this month and other half next. ' ; Several ratepayers having complained of being applied to for rates which they had- already paid to the Oroua County Council, such rates having been transferred to the Boad Board as an asset and taken over by the Board as such, the Secretary, Mr Hoe, was instructed to take the copy of thoße rates up to Feilding and interview the late clerk of the Council m reference lo same and m the event of no satisfactory adjustment being arrived at, to communicate with the late chairman on tbe matter.
