Henry Todd, formerly m the employ of the Gear Meat Company, was arrested this afternoon on a charge of the embezzlement of sums amounting to about £60. Westbobt, Sept. 2. The body of a man was found on the sea beach this morning, supposed to be that of Thomas Mahoney, missing from Fern Flat, above Lyell, since the last week of July. The body has floated upwards of 60 miles m the flood at present running m the riyer. Dunedin, Sept. 1. Mrs James Garden, wife of a storekeeper at Clinton, m the Clutha county, died during an apopletic fit while she was attending a meeting of the Salvation Army m the local hall. She leaves 14 children, the youngest of whom is an infant. Nelson, Sept. 2.
