L ' • — < • We are glad to hear that Mr D. M. George, who has been laid aside by a rather severe attack of rheumatic gout, 1 has now partially recovered, and is once • more about again. ' The Meesageries Maritime Company's steamship Yarra, from Marseilles (July 2), has arrived at Adelaide. A fund is being raised for John Howe, the actor, to scud him to Sydney, and give him a. fresh start. Howe is a brother to Farjeou, the novelist. Mr C. S. Gatton had a rather amusing . experience m bee-keeping. He took ' home a hive, and m. the warmth and trusting confidence of his nature, he took them some syrup' in a Saucer. Those ungrateful iusects' just swarmed 1 on him, and appeared to do their level : .best to make him beautiful for over. He will bear the marks of their affectionate , regard for some days to come. : With our issue of to-day we publish a fourteen column supplement, being seven Golumns of tales and sketches, and seven of advertisements. The tragic interest of the sensational tale, " A Teirible Legacy " is capitally sustained m the chapters m to-day's supplement, and the final denouement cannot now be far off. The other columns are also very readable and entertaining. The renovated building adjacent to the Commercial Hotel, will soon be out of the builders' hands, and will be a great improvement on the delapidated , old structure that formerly stood there. The design is Mr L. G. West's, under whose* supervision it is being erected. What are its intended purposes we have not yet learnt. When finished it will be a commodious, ornamental, and sub- , itantial building. Mr Peterson's new shop will be m full swing on Monday, and he may possibly I be i able to open this evening. His many friends will wish him all possible success m his venture. If business energy and perseverance will bring their due . reward — and they generally do, Mr Peterson will succeed even beyond what [ he or his friends expect. l Mr A. Peterson is authorized to trahs- . act business m connection with the Palmorston North Tannery and Fellmongery ■ Company, whose manufactory is near • Terrace End. • The nominations for Mr Cotter's vacI ated seat m the Manchester Highway ■ Board mu/st be mby Monday 18th iast. > The election takes place at AsUurst on ■ t Friday 22nd.
