An agreement for the purchase of twelve acres of freehold land on the Koro Koro Stream, Petone, has been made with the native owners, and registered. The Company obtains under this agreement valuable water T rights, and the price to bepaid may be deemed satisfactory. The principal portion of the above land was subjfet to a lease to Mr Wollaivd, and the Directors have purchased all his interest with the right of immediate entry. . The waters of the stream have been analysed by Dr Hector, who states that they are peculiarly adapted for the purposes required. The site has been reported upon by experts, and pronounced to be one of the most suitable m the whole colony for a Woollen Factory. The advantages of road, rail, and sea carriage at the factory gates, the close proximity of population, and the impossibility of interfering with or injuring other properties, are certainly of the greatest consequence." From the fact that negotiations are • already m course of completion for appointing a thoroughly practical Manager, and that plans and specifi- . cations for erection of works will bo promptly proceeded with, it will be understood that the Directors intend to proceed vigorously with the undertaking. Close upon 12,000 shares having been taken up, and 5000 being reserved, only 3000 are now open for allotment.
