IMPORTANT INTELLIGENCE.

i ("Special to the Standard J [by cable.] -LONDOW, August 0. In the House of Commons this afternoon, Mr Gladstone made his promised statement as to the intentions of the Government with regard to Egypt. He announces that Earl Northbrook, first Lord of the Admirality will proceed to that country this month with the title of High Commissioner to report upon the state of affairs and advise the Government as to, the best course to persue. His Lordship will be accompanied by Sir Evelyn Baring, formerly British Consul-General of Egypt.
