Auckland Stock market.
The news with reference to the value of stock m the Auckland market still continues highly favorable. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's last re* port to band is to the following effect : — " Cattle. — Tho supply has not been so large as on the previous week, but there has been an animated demand, and consequently stores and fat beasts advanced m value. At the Newmarket yards there was scarcely an average muster of dairy and fat beasts, and but few stores w«re yarded ; but there was a good muster at Pukehoe. Stores and dairy cows remained at last week's values, but fat beasts advanced fully 4s per lOOlbs m price. For all descriptions the demand was brisk, and we quote beef at from 25s to 28s per lOOlbs. Sheep— The supply has been adequate, and the demand steady, consequently values were not materially altered. The Newmarket yards were filled, and the competition was brisk throughout. Wethers sold at 13s 6 d to £1 5s 6d; ewes from 13s to 16s 6d." We understand that arrangements have been made for slaughtering at Waitara and sending the meal m cold air chambers to Auckland. For this purpose at present 500 fat bullocks are wanted. By the time they are obtained, the West Cc«st will be completely cleared of beef.
