AFTER the present month, our Collector will call EVERY FOURTH MONDAY on. all Town Subscribers for the amount of their subscriptions lo the Manawatu Standard. He will make hi* first round on Monday, 4th of August, when a settlement of all arrears of subscriptions till date is particularly requested. This new arrangement is made at the special request of a considerable number of town subscribers, who prefer to make their payments monthly to letting them run for longer periods, believing m the principle that short accounts are best, and are most easily met. Weekly and fortnightly subscribers will also be taken on, and their amounts called for m accordance with the special arrangements they make. It » believed that this system will prove more satisfactory, m all respects, both to our subscribers and ourselves, than having the accounts standing over for periods varying ftom 6 to 18 months, when difficulty is often experienced m collecting them, and mutual dis* satisfaction ensues. Quarterly subscribers m advance still taken on as ab present. Standard Office, July 28. TO THE ELECTORS OF MANAWATU. QJBNTLEMEN,— I beg to return my most hearty and grateful thanks to my supporters m the late Election, and to assure them that I will do my best to justify their confidence. I wish also especially to thank those who kindly placed vehicles and committee-rooms at my disposal, and the members of my various Committees who worked so energetically at, m many cases, great personal inconvenience. To those who opposed me I wish to say that I hope by my actions m Parliament to convert them into, supporters at the next election. On my part there exists not the slightest ill-feeling against any elector for exercising his undoubted right to express his political opinions by opposing me ; and I shall, as Member, for the District j strive to represent all, whether opponents or supporters, equally and faithfully. I remain, Gentlemen, Obediently and faithfully yours, ft B. MAQABTHUR,
