A Voice from Rangitikei.
(To the Editor Wanp-ahui Herald;) Sir, — Possibly one of the most disgraceful electioneering dodges that was ever perpetrated has taken place here, today. The circumstances are these: Messrs Bruce, Arkwright, and Stevens have been, as is well known, candidates at the approaching election. The two former have already addressed the electors.' To-night is the first occasion on which Mr Stevens com* inences a series of addresses at various . centres. At the last moment, this high-minded English gentleman, % former member of the House of Conmons, &c, &c, aunounces that m consequence of something another having come between the air and his gentility, he must retire and he intends to vote for Mr Bruce. Evidently feeling that he is on the evo of a licking, spite of all the piwans of praise which have been sung m his favour, ho adopt* the course of sneak* iug out of his engagements for the express purpose of. damaging the popular candidate. Anything, m the opinion of a certain clique, is 1 letter than to allow a useful member, who beat the great Fox at the last election, to retain his seat. — I am, &c., A Buffeb. Marton, July 14.
