We remind our Ashurpt readers of Mr Snelson's sale of fruit and forest trees to take place to-morrow at 2 p.m. The Borough Stock Sale took place this afternoon. Messrs Balcombe and Sherwill's stock sale takes place at Ashurst to-morrow at 1 p.m. . Readings are announced at the Wesley an school-room this evening, at 7.30 o'clock by the Rev. Mr Bunn. Sir George Grey has declined to stand for Egmont against Major Atkinson. Mr A. Gower invites tenders for felling 48 acres of bush. The Tui will leave Foxton for Wellington to-morrow at 9 a.m., and the {Jane Douglas this evening at 7 p.m. The direct steamer, British King, arrived at London from Lyttelton yesterday. One death occurred on the voyage. ■'••;. By cable to-day we learn that medical experts have pronounced that the epidemic that has broken out at Marseilles is true Asiatic Cholera. Mr Macarthur's election committee will meet to-morrow evening m the committ«e room; mMr Lintbn's chambers, at 7.30 p.m., sharp. A full attendance is requested.. All those desirious of securing Mr Macarthur's return are invited to attend. During a gale m Dunedin on Saturday a horse and van were blown over, and the driver slightly injured . The van was smashed to pieces, and the cover blown a quarter of a mile away. According to the latest advices from the London market, prime New Zealand mutton is now qnotod at s£d~to s|d per lb. We are requested to announce that a false alarm will be made from the belltower to-morrow between the hours of 6 and 10 p.m., for the purposoof calling out the fire brigade for practice. A good general servant is wanted at the Princess Hotel, Terrace End. At Mr Snelson's sale at the People's Mart on Saturday next at 12 o'clock, a quantity of sawn timber will be offered m lots to suit purchasers. We are pleased to learn that at the Rev. Mr Copinger's special service which was inaugurated at St Peter's schoolroom yesterday afternoon, no less than fifty children were m attendance to receive religious instruction. This result must be very gratifying to the Rev. gentleman, who is doing much good by the tangible olfftnent of vitality he is infusing both by precept aud example into all organisations m any way connected with the Anglican body.
