Auckland, July 1. The criminal session of the Supreme Court was opened this morning by Mr Justice Gillies. In his charge to the grand jury his Honor pointed out that the. calender was a large one, but none of the offences were of an aggravated character. The number of Maori prisoners were unusually large, nine out of the twenty-one accused belonging to the native race. The majority of cases come from the country districts.
