It was resolved " That this meeting of the ratepayers of Ward No. 6, do. hereby empower Mr Macarthur to make an ap r p^cation for the sum of £3600, under f^e;, Roads and Bridges Construction Act, and it also pledges itself to support | apebial rate for the purpose, provided tiiat the Board also pledge theinselyes not to collect the same." Mesais Cotter, Qi'amniar and Carlile spoke m favor of the" motion. Mr Macarthur said the ineetjng could rely; upon . his using his alniogt endeavours to bring about the dewfed object, and hoped to succeed m procuring a bridge over 1 the Manawatu.
