The Hon. Evelyn Ashley, TTrider Secretary for the Colonies, has proposed that the Australasian coloneis shall contribute a share m tj^e ;expense to be incurred by the tempor-. ary extension of the powers of Sir George Desvpeux m order t that the latter may be m a position to deal with the labor trade m the Western Pacific, and that the AgentsiGeneitol for the various colonies shall afterwards discuss with the Imperial Government the question of adopting further means for regulating, or for repressing the traffic hi ; Island laborers.
