Tho boy, who was fearfully used, was taken to the police station for protection. The Waikato "Farmers' Co-operative Association, have opened butchei'V shops tor the sale, of their moat m Auckland, and are making extensive arrangements to avoid middlemen's profit respecting all produce. CiiursxcirimcH, Juno 11. A four-roomed cottage occupied by Thomas Osborne, jun., Oxford, was destroyed by fire at 3 a.m. yesterday under suspicious circumstances. Though no one- was- supposed to be m the cottage at the time, footsteps \rere heard by neighbors just before the fire broke out, and boxes of clothes were found outside,, having
evidently been removed before the fire. A deputation from the unemployed waited on the Mayor this morning, and liis Worship saw Mr Marsh, the L'minigr.ition Agent, who sent an urgent telegram to the Government requesting them to instruct the authorities at Addington to provideemployment for those out of woik. June 12. A seam of coal 1 2 feet thick has l/een traced m the Grey district, near Blackball Creek for 'half a mile. Some excellent specimens of copper are being brought from the Malvern district.
