In it its issue this morning the Daily News publishes an article on the New Guinea Annexation Question, m the course of which it is stated that the Government recently sounded one of the Australian colonies regarding its readiness to contribute towards the expenses m connection with the proposed establishment of British authority at certain points on the co;ist of New Guinea. It states, however, that it is not likely that the Australian Colonies will vote money on such terms as would be acceptable to the Imperial Government, and it considers that the early exercise of British sovereignty m New Guinea is not expected.
