Canada and America.

Two powerful dynamite cartridges with wive and fuse attached were discovered, on April 30th, under the Crown Lands Office m the Parliament Building Toronto. A thorough sweh disclosed two more cartridges under the st«ps approaching the speaker's chamber, having also wire and luse attached. The discoveiy caused intense excitement around the Parliament Buildings. The cartridges were marked, " Detonating Powder Company, Chicago." Advices from British Columbia, April 24, state that a number of Chinamen discharged from the work on the Canadian Pacific, made an attempt to wreck a train neap Wicomen on the main line. Thousands of Chinamen are investing that province ; they are out of work, and are con- | stantly committing outrages against life and property. Mormon immigrants from Europe, en route to Salt Lake, are arriving at New York by thousands. The steamship Nevada, from Liverpool, on April 19, brought 300 m one batch. A despatch from Toronto, dated May 2, says there has been great excitement m Kingston during the past two days over a discovery of gold m large quantities at Kaladar, a village about titty mile* oft from Kingston. Gold was found m pockets on the farm of a Mr McLauglan by men who were engaged m blasting rock near a stream that runs through his property. During the first half-day men found 500 dollars' worth of precious metal.
