At ihe inquest on the body of Arnold Garry, who died somewhat suddenly at Kohimarama Industrial School, tho evidence of Dr Purchase, after a post mortem examination, showed that death aro«e from emaciation of the snail intestines. There is no reason to suspect poisoning. A verdict was returned of death from natural causes. Mary Bro >vn, licensee of the Flagstaff Hotel, North Shore, was charged at the Police Court with selling 1 liquor to William O'Keefe while drunk. O'Keefe, subsequently, m trying to get home, fell over the Queen street wharf and was drowned. The case was dismissed, on the ground that the evidence did not show that defendant or her representative were aware that O'Keefe was drunk. June 2. The Waikato Cheese Factory has discontinued operations for the season, the recent heavy frosst having destroyed all grass and reed m the Waikato, causing a decrease m the supply of milk. Gisborne, June 1. The Te Anau remains m the roadstead all night. The passengers landed ihis morning, Sir George Grey amongst them. He will remain there till next n-eek, and deliver an address on WednesdayJane 2. A consignment of five hundred sheep sent from here by Mr Clark, through tho Loan and Mercantile Agency, per Doric, realised seven- | pence per pound m London, the highest price given for any of the frozen meat. Mr Edgar Bastings, who committed suicide on board the Rotomahana, was a brother ot Mr Horace Bastings formerly M.H.I?. He was on a visit to Melbourne for the benefit of his health. He had been au hotelkeeper for many years. June 2. The prospectus of the Olago Cooperative Farmers' Society, with 50,000 shares at one pound each has been issued. Inyeecahgill, June 1. Tomlinson and Hay wards' trial oi' thi'ir sheep dips of 700 of Sutlon's Lineolns, at Garry Owen, closed yesterday. The results were satisfactory, and without the loss of a single sheep. Christciiurch, June 1. . The Springtftone Hotel, 16 miles from Christchurch, was broken into last night, and a cash box containing £200 stolen. The cash-box was subsequently found empty m a paddock near the hotel. June 1. At the Leeston Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, ft man named Logan, charged with larceny, and remanded till Friday, bail being allowed, m £20 and one surety £20. Deieudant has a sister who is barmaid at the Leeston Hotel and wishing to compel her to give up her situation, carried off her box oi clothes, valued at £20, without the landlord* or h<r permission, hence the charge of larceny.
