Amongst all the thousands of Mormon immigrants who arrived at New York during the past month there is net a single Irishman. A clergyman at Wairoa took occasion lately during his sermon to advise his congregation to vote straight m the coining election. The audience m the back seats responded by stamping their feet, as is usual at election meetings. At a meeting of the Acclimatization Society hold at Mr Linton's office on Friday last there were present Messrs A.. Russell, Caverhill, Flankins and the Secretary. It was resolved that the secretary answer a letter from Mr Beetham and ask what amount of subscription would be necessary from each society to carry out successfully the project of fish hatching for the North Island. The secretary's half-yearly salary was passed for payment.
