The Palmeraton North Rifle Volunteers will parade for quarterly inspection at the Prill Hall, at 7.30 p.m. on Friday next. It was Dr Macintire who attended Mr Nannestad, not Dr Johnston asstated m yesterday's issue. The Tarawera from Bluff reached Melbourne yesterday. The Ship Loch Fergus from Lyttelton, February 9th, reached London on May 31st. A notice appears elsewhere m reference to the date of nominations for the nawly constituted Borough Council. Several new consultations will be found m our advertising columns. The usual monthly meeting of the Manawatu Road Board will be held tomorrow at 11 o'clock. Messrs Hoe and Walton have been elected auditors for the Borough. The Orange Lodge will meet to-mor row evening at 7.30 o'clock. Eighty-one horses have been entered for the groat metropolitan stakes to be run for at the A.J.C. Spring Meeting. Of the young man who was devoured by wild pigs, blood, clothes, and hair were all the traces that were found. The Pahnerston portion of the 'Frisco mail might possibly reach by last train this evening, via New Plymouth. The Palmerston Borough Council invite applications from persons willing to act as custodian of the Public Hall and Library. Particulars can be obtained from the Town Clerk. Mr A. Nannestad, of Trondjem, whose hand was accidentally injured.last week, writeß that Dr Macintire's professional treatment is giving him every satisfaction. Dr Johnston was absent from Feilding when Mr Nannestad went there to have his hand dressed, and so he had to ride on to Palmerston. A meeting of S. J. Gamman's creditors takes place to-morrow. We have been requested to state that the football match Feilding v. Palmerston will take place on Saturday next on the Palmerston ground, not at Feilding. There are 140 cases m all to be heard next court day. The Licensing Committee meet on Friday next. There was a capital attendance of young men at the Mutual Improvement class held last evening m the Wesleyan Schoolhouse, about 20 being present. There are now about 30 on the roll and the society is steadily making headway.
