(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Port Chalmers, June 1. Robert Reid, chief steward of the Koranui, was found dead m his cabin at six o'clock on Saturday night, A bott Ie containing about an ounce of laudanum was found underneath him on the sofa. Reid, it appears, drank heavily at Lyttelton. It is supposed that the cause of death was heart disease. He consumed three ounces of laudanum. Christchurch, June 1. A man named Jokn Sinclair was found dead this morning m McDonald's boarding-house at Kaiapoi. Deceased had taken some meat to hed with him, and had been choked m trying to swallow a large piece.
